TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Larisa (瑞莎), a Ukrainian-born Taiwanese gymnast, announced on Monday (Sept. 2) the successful hosting of the second Rising Star RG (瑞星盃), despite facing significant challenges.

Larisa highlighted the lack of a permanent training venue and essential facilities like air conditioning, which caused some children to feel nauseous during practice sessions due to the heat.

Larisa noted that support from the community enabled the international invitational event last month, which featured over 200 young rhythmic gymnasts from 15 different countries. She emphasized the event's role in showcasing Taiwan's beauty and fostering athletic exchange, saying it allowed Taiwanese children to compete with international athletes and improve their skills.

The competition's resources came entirely from the Rising Star team's efforts, which were largely funded by the Rising Star Development Program.

She also mentioned that one of the rented venues in New Taipei City was unbearably hot, reaching approximately 42 degrees Celsius in summer. The extreme heat made some children feel sick, forcing her to find alternative practice locations.

After stepping back from the entertainment industry, Larisa has fully dedicated herself to Taiwan's sports scene, establishing the Taiwan Rhythmic Gymnastics Association (瑞星韻律體操協會).
