TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Meteorologist Lin Te-en (林得恩) described Tropical Storm Usagi (天兔颱風) as a "small but powerful typhoon" poised to approach Taiwan closely on Tuesday (Nov. 12), noting that the storm would begin to shift northward on Thursday and Friday.
Formed early Tuesday, Tropical Storm Usagi joins Yinxing, Toraji, and Man-yi typhoons in an unprecedented November occurrence of four simultaneous typhoons. The Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA, 日本氣象廳) reported that Usagi continues moving northwest, expected to pass from south to north off Taiwan's eastern coast as a light to moderate typhoon.
The Central Weather Administration (CWA, 中央氣象署) indicated that, regardless of Usagi's direct impact, peripheral circulation will cause scattered showers in northern and eastern Taiwan and the Hengchun Peninsula on Friday and Saturday. Southern and central mountainous areas will experience isolated showers, with rain persisting into next Monday due to strengthening northeast monsoons.
