TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Typhoon Usagi (天兔) intensified into a moderate typhoon on Wednesday (Nov. 13) morning, with forecasts indicating a potential increase in strength and an expanding storm radius, according to the  Central Weather Administration (CWA, 中央氣象署).

Typhoon Usagi is expected to approach Taiwan from Friday to Sunday morning, maintaining moderate strength before moving away from the island starting Sunday morning. Authorities may issue a sea typhoon warning tomorrow morning, and depending on the storm's development and path, a land warning may also be issued.

The storm, currently nearing Luzon Island, will enter the Bashi Channel tomorrow and then shift north-northeast to northeast over the weekend, likely passing south of Taiwan and entering the southeastern sea.

Some models suggest Usagi may move west into the South China Sea after entering the Bashi Channel after Thursday The projected path covers areas from the Ryukyu Sea to the Bashi Channel and the South China Sea, with significant uncertainty in its trajectory and impact range. Residents should stay informed on updates as the situation evolves, given the unpredictability of the storm's path.
