TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an (蔣萬安) stressed on Monday (Oct. 28) the importance of ensuring public safety in the Core Pacific City (京華城) project. He emphasized the need to safeguard nearby residents from potential impacts. Chiang plans to invite relevant professionals and the city's four engineering associations to discuss and provide safety recommendations.
Deputy Mayor Lee Ssu-chuan (李四川) previously convened a meeting on Oct. 24 with Core Pacific Development Corporation (鼎越公司), the engineering associations, and external experts to address safety concerns related to the construction halt. Lee urged Core Pacific Development Corporation to voluntarily remove the controversial 20% floor area bonus and proceed with construction alterations.
The engineering associations highlighted the necessity of completing the first-floor slab, which is currently only 80% finished. They also pointed out the need to finish the basement levels to prevent any adverse effects on the Taiwan Railway (台鐵), the Taiwan High Speed Rail (THSR, 高鐵), the Puppetry Art Center of Taipei (偶戲博物館), and nearby buildings located 15 meters away.
